Friends of Thieves is a pop / rock band from Vancouver, Canada, that formed in the summer of 2008. The trio includes Rowena Fonseka (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Mike Chang (bass, guitar, vocals), and Daniel Fortin (drums, keyboards, vocals).
Best described as a band with a positive energetic groove, uniquely pop, yet rock, yet electronic sounding, and having original songs that both your friends and your mother will enjoy, Friends of Thieves delivers a fun and lively set of music to all their audiences.
During the Autumn of 2008, Friends of Thieves released a 3-song demo called Demolition. Recorded in a bunker in a frenzied weekend, the demo included the songs You Belong To Me, I Don’t Do The Drugs That I Have, and As I Am. The band has played several concerts around Vancouver including shows at the Backstage Lounge, Biltmore Hotel, and acoustic sets at Trees Organic Coffee House.
The band has continued to write new original music, experimenting with new sounds and organic grooves. Friends of Thieves plan to start recording their first full-length album in the summer of 2009 with a projected release date later in the year.
